DETAILED OVERVIEW

Blissful Babbacombe Weekend

You are sure to love Babbacombe Bay on Devon’s English Riviera. In 1846, Queen Victoria wrote: 'It's a beautiful spot... red cliffs and rocks with wooded hills like Italy and reminding one of a ballet or play where nymphs appear — such rocks and grottoes, with the deepest sea on which there was no ripple.' Over 150 years later, it still feels the same as you stand and look across the beautiful bay. With great beaches and attractions including Babbacombe Downs and the highest clifftop promenade in England.

The Babbacombe Hotel enjoys a level position directly on the sea front overlooking the famous Babbacombe Downs with far reaching beautiful views across Lyme Bay.

We include excursions to Paignton, Brixham, Buckfast Abbey & the South Devon Steam Railway.

ITINERARY

Day 1

Departing the local area, we will make suitable stops on route before arriving at the 3* Babbacombe Hotel with time to settle in before dinner. There will be evening entertainment at the hotel over the weekend.

|

Day 2

This morning, we visit the colourful, traditional seaside resort of Paignton. The bustling pier, genteel buildings and streets and sense of class and style make this an English Riviera favourite for generations of visitors. We continue round the coastline to Brixham, with time to explore the small fishing village, with its quaint narrow streets heading up from the waterfront.

|

Day 3

Today we visit the Tranquil haven of Buckfast Abbey. The Abbey is a working monastery where the monks live self sufficiently creating goods for sale, producing their own electricity, engaging in various forms of pastoral work and welcoming visitors from around the world. This afternoon we take a ride on the South Devon Steam Railway along the valley of the river Dart through some of Devons most beautiful countryside.

|

Day 4

We depart the hotel, and with a stop on route, arrive home late afternoon.
