Bridgwater Carnival
The Bridgwater Carnival has lived up to its reputation as the largest and best illuminated procession in the world, with a mesmerising display of colour, sound, movement and overall entertainment. The carnival, which takes place annually on the first Saturday of November, attracts thousands of spectators and enthrals people of all ages as it winds its way around the historic streets of Bridgwater, Somerset. The procession typically winds through the streets of Bridgwater on the evening of the carnival, drawing large crowds who come to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, dazzling lights, and creativity on display. The event also includes marching bands, dancers, and various performers, adding to the festive ambiance. We stay at the 4* Swan Hotel in the centre of Wells and include excursions to: Winchester, Wells, and Bath, as well as the Bridgwater Carnival. Day 1
We depart the local area, and with a stop on route in Winchester, we arrive at our hotel, 4* Swan Hotel in Wells, in time for dinner.
|Day 2
This morning, we spend time at leisure in Wells. Why not visit the spectacular cathedral, only a short walk from our centrally located hotel. We enjoy lunch at the hotel before making the journey to Bridgwater ready for the carnival. There is live music and entertainment in the town before the procession starts at 6pm. The procession is followed by a simultaneous squibbing display, and we will return home to the hotel late in the evening.
Please wrap up warm and be prepared for wet weather, the carnival is outdoors and goes ahead whatever the weather.
Day 3
After a leisurely breakfast, we depart the hotel and make our way to Bath, where we enjoy some free time to explore the UNESCO world heritage site, before returning home late afternoon.
