Day 1
We depart the local area and travel to Sissinghurst Castle Gardens. Heralded for its beauty and diversity, the garden at Sissinghurst is among the most famous gardens in England and is well worth a visit. Don't miss the orchard, set within the gardens and framed by the moat. We arrive at the 4* Bridgewood Manor Hotel & Spa in time for dinner.
|Day 2
After breakfast we make the journey into the spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells, with its elegant streets and Georgian buildings and the famous Pantiles, a colonnaded shopping area in the town centre. We spend the morning here with time for lunch. In the afternoon we travel to Pashley Manor where the famous Tulip festival is underway. There are over 48,000 tulips in full bloom comprised of 105 varieties in a colour coordinated garden. A truly mesmerising sight.
|Day 3
Today we visit Hever castle, once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII and Mother of Elizabeth I. The Castle is a romantic double moated 13th century castle which houses historic 16th century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Spring is a wonderful time to view the gardens as walls are covered in camellias and tulips are in full bloom, as are the rhododendrons, azaleas and wisteria. Spring bedding includes hyacinths, wallflowers and pansies. We return home late afternoon.
