DETAILED OVERVIEW
ITINERARY
Day 1
Departing the local area, we will make suitable stops on route before arriving at the 4* Waterfront Hotel in Southport.
|Day 2
After a leisurely breakfast we make our way to Liverpool, where we are joined by a step on guide for a guided tour of the city. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure in Liverpool. There are plenty of museums including the Royal Albert Dock, the Tate Museum and the Merseyside Maritime Museum. Visit either of the city's 2 cathedrals, immerse yourself in the history of the Beatles or get some retail therapy at the Liverpool One shopping centre.
|Day 3
This morning, we visit WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre, there's something for everyone, from taking in the vistas and wildlife from a hide, to enjoying tea and cake in the Mere Side Cafe. This afternoon we visit the Courtyard at Tarleton a traditional retail store in the heart of Lancashire.
|Day 4
This morning, we journey through over 400 years of history to reveal the secrets of Astley Hall, one of the most intriguing historic houses in the North West. This surprising building features some of the most breath-taking mid-17th century plaster ceilings in the country, rare painted panelling and very fine English oak furniture. Discover the fascinating history of the families who once owned the Hall in the intriguing portraits adorning the period rooms and then take a stroll through the internal Elizabethan courtyard. The park and gardens stretch out over 43.75 hectares including walled gardens and beautiful woodland. We return to the hotel for time at leisure in the Victorian seaside town. Our hotel is situated on the edge of Marine Lake and is a short walk to both the sea front which is home to the second longest pier in Britain, and a short walk to Lord Street in the towns centre with its wide boulevard, shopping arcades and wrought iron canopies.

After breakfast we commence our journey home with suitable stops on route, arriving back late afternoon/early evening.
