We depart the local area and with a lunch stop on route arrive at the 3* Celtic Royal Hotel, Caernarfon in time for dinner.
|Monday 11 July
This morning we visit Caernarfon Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before enjoying a scenic drive to Betws y Coed, North Wales' most popular inland resort. We enjoy time at leisure for lunch here before continuing through the Snowdonia National park to Lanberris where we vvisit the nearby National Slate Museum (free entry) The National Slate Museum is located in the Victorian workshops built in the shadow of Elidir mountain, site of the vast Dinorwig quarry. Here you can travel into the past of an industry and a way of life that has chiselled itself into the very being of this country.
|Tuesday 12 July
This morning we travel over the Menai Bridge to the Isle of Anglesey and visit one of North Wales' best kept secrets, the hidden gardens of Plas Cadnant. We enjoy exploring the restored gardens at leisure before we travel to nearby Beaumaris with its medieval castle, lovely beach and Victorian pier. In the afternoon we relax on a leisurely 80 minute return boat cruise to Puffin Island.
|Wednesday 13 July
Today we enjoy a ride on the Welsh Highland Railway, the UK's longest heritage railway.
Our one way journey runs from Caernarfon, past the foot of Snowdon to the picture postcard village of Beddgelert. On arrival, we re-join our coach and travel to the nearby unique village of Portmeirion, exploring the lovely terraced gardens, village and shops.
Thursday 14 July
After breakfast we return home with a lunch stop on route arriving back late afternoon.
