DETAILED OVERVIEW

ITINERARY

Day 1

We depart the local area and with a lunch stop on route arrive at the 3* Celtic Royal Hotel, Caernarfon in time for dinner.

Day 2

This morning we visit Caernarfon Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before enjoying a scenic drive to Betws y Coed, North Wales' most popular inland resort. We enjoy time at leisure for lunch here before visiting the nearby Trefriw Woollen Mills (free entry), where traditional woollen products are made using machines that are over 50 years old. We continue through Snowdonia National Park and return to Caernarfon via Llanberis.

Day 3

Today we enjoy a ride on the Welsh Highland Railway, the UK's longest heritage railway. The one-way journey runs from Caernarfon, where trains start from beneath the castle walls to Beddgelert.The trains, hauled by the world's most powerful narrow gauge steam locomotives, climb from sea level to over 650ft on the foothills of Snowdon, before zig-zagging dramatically down the steep hillside to reach Beddgelert, nestling in the heart of the National Park. On arrival, we re-join our coach and travel to the nearby unique village of Portmeirion, exploring the lovely terraced gardens, village and shops.

Day 4

This morning we travel over the Menai Strait to the Isle of Anglesey, we relax on a leisurely 80-minute return boat cruise to Puffin Island followed by time at leisure for lunch in Beaumaris with its medieval castle, lovely beach and Victorian pier. In the afternoon we visit one of North Wales' best kept secrets, the hidden gardens of Plas Cadnant.

Day 5

After breakfast we return home with a lunch stop on route, arriving back late afternoon.
