This Show is a tradition rooted in Scottish identity; the gathering of the clans becomes a gathering of nations, allies, friends, and kindred spirits. The call has gone out and the call will be answered in a brand-new Tattoo performance in the summer of 2026. For this reason, patrons with limited mobility, those with heart or respiratory problems, and those that suffer from vertigo, may find access more challenging. Castlehill, the old-cobbled approach to the Esplanade, is a steep inclined walk of some 100 metres. In addition, there is on average a further 100 metres climb up the gentler slope of the Esplanade, followed by a dozen or so steps to be negotiated to reach the front rows of all the spectator stands in the arena. The rest of the seating in the amphitheatre is accessed by more steps which are quite steeply tiered.ITINERARY
Day 1
After an early departure we make our way north with stops on route, arriving at our hotel the 4* Barony Castle Hotel, with time to settle in before dinner.
|Day 2
After a leisurely breakfast we make our way to Edinburgh, where you have the day to explore Scotland's majestic capital, before the evening performance of the The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, which is a truly remarkable and internationally acclaimed event. This thrilling and moving experience, against the world-famous backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, will incorporate the unforgettable music of the massed pipes and drums, the massed military bands, as well as imaginative graphics, state-of-the-art lighting, singers, dancers, and many other performers from around the world. The show is finally brought to an emotional and poignant close each evening, as the lone piper, high on the castle ramparts, plays a haunting lament.
Today's dinner arrangements are at own cost in Edinburgh. Please be aware that the coach will not be able to access the Royal Mile and therefore you will be required to walk up to the Castle, see notes below.
Day 3
Enjoy a leisurely morning at the hotel before a visit to Abbotsford House, the extraordinary home of Sir Walter Scott, the 19th century novelist and 'Great Scott' who popularised tartan, saved the Scottish banknote, and rediscovered his country's Crown Jewels. Sir Walter Scott's imagination and creativity extended beyond the house into the outdoors and the creation of beautiful formal Regency gardens.

After breakfast it is farewell to Scotland as we make our way home, arriving back early evening.
