ITINERARY

Day 1

Departing the local area, we travel north with a stop on route before arriving at the 4* Copthorne Hotel, with time to settle in before dinner. The Copthorne Hotel is in a prime location in Newcastle, on the banks of the River Tyne and a short stroll into the city centre.

Day 2

Enjoy the day at leisure in Newcastle. If you're looking for some retail therapy, make sure to visit Fenwick's where the famous Fenwick festive window display will be on show, or perhaps visit one of the many museums, galleries, and numerous attractions located throughout the city centre.

Day 3

Today's outing takes us north to visit the famous Beamish North of England Open Air Museum, capturing the spirit of the North East in the 1800s and 1900s. Attractions include a restored tram and replica bus rides, authentic town streets, a colliery village, do down the mine, an old-fashioned sweet shop, a working farm, steam locomotives, and much more. At this time of year, the museum is festively decorated so we can reimagine what Christmas was like in bygone eras.

Day 4

This morning, we drive south to Raby Castle - one of the finest Medieval castles to remain in Britain and the resident home of the Vane family since 1626. The castle has been beautifully decorated for the festive season. Telling the story of Christmas Day at the castle, from the daybreak thrill of opening a Christmas stocking to an evening of elegant dining and Christmas games. This afternoon we visit the historic city of Durham, well known for its huge cathedral, sat overlooking the rest of the river and its beautiful cityscape. A must visit is Durham cathedral with its great architecture and peaceful surroundings.

Day 5

On our final day we will take a morning stop in the pretty town of Ripon, before continuing our journey home.
