DETAILED OVERVIEW
Warner's Littlecote House
Warner Hotels are known for their Just for Grown-Ups historic hotels. Built in the mid-1500s, this beautiful Grade I listed Tudor manor has a truly unique story. History is literally on your doorstep: the stunning location has played host to occupying Romans, a Tudor tryst and even a Civil War army. The grounds contain an ornate Roman mosaic floor and settlement remains. Henry VIII courted Jane Seymour here, and the D-Day landings were planned within the house. Englands last remaining Cromwellian Chapel in a private house is also here, and the property offers many more historical jewels for you to explore at your leisure. All of this comes with outstanding service, delicious food in the spacious restaurant, live entertainment every night, and a host of activities from tennis to air-rifle shooting. We include excursions to: Cirencester, Lacock Abbey & Fox Talbot Museum (NT) and Marlborough. Day 1
We depart the local area arriving at our hotel in Berkshire early afternoon.
|Day 2
After a leisurely breakfast we travel to the Roman town of Cirencester, known as the capital of the Cotswolds. During the 6th century fortunes changed and the town was destroyed by the Saxons. However, its fortunes slowly revived and it became a very prosperous wool town in the medieval period - the basis for the charming town with ancient honey coloured stone buildings in picturesque narrow streets that you can visit today.
|Day 3
Today we visit the Lacock village and Abbey (NT). Used as a setting for many period films and TV shows, this unspoilt village is a delight to wander around. Lacock is the birthplace of British photography, and the Fox Talbot museum houses a collection spanning photographic developments up to the present day.
|Day 4
This morning, we visit Marlborough, set in beautiful countryside, this handsome former staging post on the Great West Way has evolved into a stylish and cosmopolitan town.
|Day 5
We depart Littlecote after a leisurely breakfast and return home with a lunch stop on route, arriving back late afternoon.
