ITINERARY

Day 1

Departing the local area we have a lunch stop on route arriving at our hotel, the 4* Holiday Inn Newcastle Gosforth Park with time to settle in before dinner.

|

Day 2

We start with a short drive to Northumberlandia, home of 'The Lady of the North' for a quick stop. This stunning landform sculpture scales up to 100 ft in height and spans 1/4 of a mile. Later we journey to the magnificent Cragside House. This former home of Lord and Lady Armstrong is now in the care of the National Trust. Cragside was the first house to be lit by electricity - a true wonder of the Victorian age. The house is fascinating and the gardens are spectacular with towering conifers, rocky crags, and waterfalls to explore.

|

Day 3

This morning, we travel to Morpeth where you can visit its weekly Wednesday market, and explore the historic market town. Later we travel to Wooler to visit Ad Gefrin, a new attraction that showcases life at an Anglo-Saxon Royal Court historically located in Wooler. The immersive museum features a great hall, and original artifacts telling the stories of the people who made up an Anglo-Saxon Royal Court. Following our visit to the museum we enjoy a guided tour and tasting in the distillery where they use barley strains dating back to the Anglo-Saxon times to recreate a heritage whisky of this area.

|

Day 4

Our visit today is to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, travelling to the beating heart of the city centre. You can obtain lunch and enjoy the bustling surroundings, with its markets, shopping centres, museums, and parks. Perhaps wander along Newcastle Quayside, visit the Discovery Museum or the Great North Museum, see Newcastle Castle, or head to Northumberland Street for some retail therapy.

|

Day 5

After breakfast we commence our journey home with suitable stops on route, arriving back late afternoon.
