DETAILED OVERVIEW
Blissful Babbacombe Weekend
You are sure to love Babbacombe Bay on Devons English Riviera. In 1846, Queen Victoria wrote: 'It's a beautiful spot... red cliffs and rocks with wooded hills like Italy and reminding one of a ballet or play where nymphs appear such rocks and grottoes, with the deepest sea on which there was no ripple.' Over 150 years later, it still feels the same as you stand and look across the beautiful bay. With great beaches and attractions including Babbacombe Downs and the highest clifftop promenade in England. The Babbacombe Hotel enjoys a level position directly on the sea front overlooking the famous Babbacombe Downs with far reaching beautiful views across Lyme Bay. We include excursions to Dartmouth including a river cruise, Teignmouth & Kents Cavern. Day 1
Departing the local area, we will make suitable stops on route before arriving at the 3* Babbacombe Hotel with time to settle in before dinner. There will be evening entertainment at the hotel over the weekend.
|Day 2
Today we take a scenic drive to the pretty harbour town of Dartmouth, where we enjoy a river cruise before time at leisure to visit the quaint shops.
|Day 3
This morning, we visit the seaside town of Teignmouth with its Victorian Pier. The Georgian high street is perfect for a bit of retail therapy. The town beach is a long expanse of sand with the pier, arcades and promenade, whereas the river beach is full of beautiful fishing boats and has a wonderful quaint village feel. This afternoon we visit Kents Cavern, a spectacular natural cave on the coast of south Devon, with an incredible history that began 400 million years ago. The cave was used by Britain's first humans including Neanderthals. Remains of mammoth, woolly rhino and cave bears are found here.
Day 4
We depart the hotel, and with a stop on route, arrive home late afternoon.
