Day 1
We depart the local area and make our way south to the charming Emmetts Garden (NT). An Edwardian estate that was owned by Frederic Lubbock, becoming both a plantsman's passion and a much-loved family home. The garden was laid out in the late 19th century, and it contains many rare trees and shrubs from across the world. Standing on one of the highest spots in Kent, Emmetts Garden offers panoramic views over the unspoilt Weald, and you can explore the rose and rock gardens, take in the views, and enjoy shows of spring flowers and shrubs. We arrive at the 4* Orida Hotel Maidstone with time to settle in before dinner.
|Day 2
This morning we visit Hole Park which is set in over 200 acres of superb classic parkland. The colourful gardens enjoy far reaching views over the hills, woods and fields of the picturesque Kentish Weald. Enjoy the wonderful carpet of bluebells, daffodils, camellias, wisteria, magnolia and other spring delights. This afternoon we have time in the picturesque village of Tenterden, explore the picturesque high street shops, coffee shops and tea rooms, pubs and restaurants.
|Day 3
This morning, we visit Borde Hill Gardens which is home to an exquisite collection of over 150 stunning magnolia specimens. Hailed as a 'mecca for magnolia lovers,' the Garden is a horticultural gem that celebrates the vast diversity and beauty of these much-loved trees. Springtime highlights also include early flowering magnolias, camellias, azaleas and swathes of rhododendrons. This afternoon we enjoy a visit to Royal Tunbridge Wells. For years Queen Anne visited but when Queen Victoria made the town part of her regular holiday sojourns 'Royal' Tunbridge Wells, the town, came into being in the wider region of Tunbridge Wells.
|Day 4
Today we visit Great Comp Garden, explore the tranquil garden space that effortlessly showcases 7 acres of beautiful and rare plants that unfold and flower as the seasons move and change. Home to an Italian Garden, romantic ruins, enchanting woodland walks, The Old Dairy Tearooms and Dyson's Salvias. We return home late afternoon.
