Day 1
We depart the local area and make our way to Waddesdon Manor. Stroll the ornate rooms and gardens, previously the country home of the Rothschild Family and backdrop to Baron Ferdinand's famous Saturday to Monday house parties. Built in the style of a French Chateaux and intended to display the Baron's art, the manor now hosts one of the most rare and valuable collections in the world. Unravel the richly decorated interiors, filled with 18th Century artifacts, furniture and art from three generations of the family, before meandering the gardens, complete with carpet bedding, sculptures, an occupied Rococo-style aviary and contemporary art pieces. We arrive at the 4* Relais Henley Hotel with time to settle in before dinner.

Murder mysteries are aplenty in the town of Wallingford. Explore the local museum and discover the home life of the 'Queen of Crime' - world-renowned author Agatha Christie - then sit alongside her on the famed new statue, unveiled in 2023. Follow in the footsteps of Detectives Barnaby and Troy on a guided walking tour of Wallingford, the capital of fictitious Midsomer County. Spill all the behind-the-scenes secrets of Midsomer Murders with a seasoned extra. Top off your day with a well-earned rest and cream tea at Wallingford Tearoom, once a Victorian apothecary and now famed for its award-winning scones and shelves lined with vintage curiosities.

After a leisurely breakfast we depart the hotel and make our way to Dorchester-on-Thames, a must-see for any dedicated Midsomer Murders enthusiast. We join a Blue Badge Tour Guide to explore the stunning scenery and villages of Midsomer and discover the stories and locations behind the show. Visit many places where a scene (or a character) has been shot! We arrive home mid-afternoon.
