DETAILED OVERVIEW
ITINERARY
Day 1
After an early departure we make our way north with stops on route arriving at our overnight hotel: Dyfesdale Country House Hotel, with time to get settled in before dinner.
|Day 2
We depart our hotel and journey north, heading into the Trossachs to drive alongside the lovely Loch Lomond. We have a stop at the picturesque village of Luss, before continuing onto the Fort William. Late afternoon we arrive at the 3* Alexandra Hotel, set on the shores of Loch Linnhe and Loch Eil and only a few minutes' walk to Fort William high street.
|Day 3
This morning, we visit Fort Augustus, a lovely town where the Caledonian Canal meets Loch Ness, before a wonderfully relaxing cruise on Loch Ness under the shadow of the ruins of Urquhart Castle and maybe catch a glimpse of Nessie!
|Day 4
All aboard the Jacobite Steam Train, regarded as one of the world's greatest rail journeys, for a return journey between Fort William and Mallaig and follow in the footsteps of Harry Potter along the route used by the Hogwarts Express. From views of mighty Ben Nevis, your memorable journey leads past the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar, and over the famous 21 arch Glenfinnan viaduct - a truly magical experience!
|Day 5
Today, we take a ride on a gondola at Nevis Range. Britain's only mountain gondola will transport us from 300ft to 2150ft on the north face of Aonach Mor, the 8th highest mountain in Britain. During the short journey (12-15 mins each way) marvel at the stunning views of the Scottish Highlands, including the Great Glen and Nevis range. We enjoy free time to visit the restaurant, take in the panoramic views and wander around the Mountain Discovery Centre before we return to ground level. We return to Fort William for the afternoon at leisure.
|Day 6
We say goodbye to the Highlands and make our way south, arriving at our overnight hotel: Dyfesdale Country House Hotel, with time to get settled in before dinner.
|Day 7
After breakfast we continue our journey home, with stops on route, arriving back early evening.
